Who is this man?

Who has such great hopes for this world

*to grow and flourish and become *

a haven for those just and upright?

Whose principles no force can batter,

firm and strong stand in the tides,

facing torrid day and freezing night?

Who is this man who can conceal

with discipline as hard as iron

*such an immense and loving heart? *

Who is this man who’d take the lead

when faced with horror or disaster,

*yet with his faith would never part? *

Find me someone who would not wait

to turn the whole world inside out

simply to find a former mate

*of whom he’d lost sight in the crowd. *

Find me a man akin to him

in diligence and strength of will,

in faithfulness and honesty,

*in helpfulness and modesty. *

This is the man whose love I carry

deep in my heart where no one sees.

And until love and justice marry,

his (and my) fighting will not ease.

*His boundless striving for the just – *

*where he finds evil and its curse – *

makes me believe and deeply trust:

*This man should rule the universe. *

My father, you must not forget:

with every two steps that I take,

one of them belongs to you.
